State tourney begins Friday in Felch

Action gets underway at 9 a.m. Friday at Felch Field as Iron Mountain North Area Little League hosts the Michigan Juniors (ages 13-14) state baseball tournament.

Pool play runs through Sunday in the eight-team tournament, which includes Iron Mountain and Negaunee representing Upper Peninsula districts.

Negaunee is set to face Roosevelt Park in the tournament opener. Iron Mountain’s first scheduled game is 2:30 p.m. Friday against Emmett.

On Saturday, Iron Mountain takes on Saginaw at 11:30 a.m. while Negaunee and East Jordan play at 4:30 p.m.

Sunday’s slate has Negaunee against Chelsea at 9 a.m. and Iron Mountain vs. Southern at 11:30 a.m.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to a single-elimination four-team tournament Monday. Semifinals are set for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the championship is at 4 p.m.
