Poor air quality caused by wildfires has led to a scheduling change for the Michigan Little League Juniors (ages 13-14) state baseball tournament being hosted by Iron Mountain North Area Little League.

Four games scheduled for Friday were postponed. Initially, all games were scheduled to take place at Felch Field, but organizers are moving some games to LiUNA (Ranger) Field in Iron Mountain.

Today’s slate calls for four games each in Felch and Iron Mountain, beginning at 9 a.m.

Iron Mountain and Negaunee are representing Upper Peninsula districts in the tourney. Iron Mountain is scheduled to play today at LiUNA Field against Emmett at 9 a.m. and Saginaw at 6 p.m.

Negaunee is scheduled to play today at Felch Field against Roosevelt Park at 9 a.m. and East Jordan at 3 p.m.

Pool play is scheduled to continue through Sunday with a four-team single-elimination championship round Monday.

Updates will be posted on the Facebook page for Iron Mountain Little League.

In Major League Baseball, the Cleveland Guardians and Pittsburgh Pirates were expected to play a doubleheader today after the opening game of the weekend series between the teams was postponed on Friday night because of poor air quality.
