Kingsford opened its girls tennis season with a 5-3 win at home over West Iron County on Thursday.
The Flivvers captured three of the four singles matches and prevailed at No. 1 and No. 4 doubles.
“Today was the first for all doubles playing with each other, each had a different partner last year,” said Kingsford coach Tracy Rutter. “We’re trying to get a lineup figured out with the best combination for doubles.”
Aubrey Bellmore debuted at No. 3 singles for Kingsford after previously playing doubles. “Once she settles in, she is going to do very well,” Rutter said.
The Flivvers host Marquette and Munising on Monday.
Earlier in the week, West Iron defeated Ironwood Luther Wright, 6-2, earning three singles and three doubles wins.
