Prep football season kicks off

Michigan’s high school football season gets underway Thursday and Friday with all games locally kicking off at 6 p.m. Central time.

Both Iron Mountain and Kingsford are at home for 11-player games Thursday. The Mountaineers take on Hancock while the Flivvers will face Escanaba.

West Iron travels to L’Anse for an 11-player matchup, also on Thursday.

Norway opens its eight-player season on the road Thursday at Munising.

In eight-player action Friday, North Dickinson travels to Pickford, Forest Park heads to Ontonagon and North Central plays Gogebic at Bessemer.
