Tour de Dickinson and PM 500 draw hundreds

This year’s Tour de Dickinson hosted by Dickinson Trail Network had 115 participants, including 40 in the 100K Duel at Dickinson road race.
“We had another amazing finish this year with the top 13 men coming in within a second of each other,” organizers said.
In the end, Iron Mountain native Ryan Craig was the top cyclist with a time of 2:43.46.7. Finishing second was Mike Budd at 2:43.46.8 and third came down to a photo finish with Ryan Rollins edging out Creed Seibel by less than a tire width with a time of 2:43.47.5.
On the women’s side Julie Phelps of De Pere, Wis., came out on top with a time of 3:10.56. Second place went to Emily Marenger, 3:10.56.5, and third was Ava Paruleski at 3:11.22.
Both the male and female Top 3 finishers received cash prizes courtesy of U.P. Sport & Spoke- -- 1st, $250, 2nd, $150, 3rd, $100
In the Pine Mountain 500, there were 261 runners, exceeding last year’s attendance. New this year was a trail run version, which turned out to be a popular addition.
All participants and spectators were treated to a pancake breakfast sponsored by Anderson’s Maple Syrup at the finish line. Awards were given, and the King and Queen of the Mountain received new shoes courtesy of Queen City Running. The top Extreme finishers in both the road and trail categories were awarded with $100 cash each as well. King of the Mountain was Kaden Malone of Spalding at 2:14.6 and Queen of the Mountain was Jill Paha of Grayslake, Ill., at 2:57.5.
The Dickinson Trail Network thanked volunteers and sponsors for helping make the events possible. The 2027 Tour de Dickinson and Pine Mountain 500 are planned for Aug. 7 and 8.
