UP Sports Hall of Fame to induct 10 in May

The Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame 23-member council has announced the 2027 class of 10 new inductees, said Anne Okonek, executive secretary.

They are:

-- Kelly Jean Allen, Paralympic canoeist, Kingsford.

-- Don Carlson, basketball player, Kingsford.

-- Gordy Chinn, coach, Ishpeming.

-- John Croze, track/football coach, Ishpeming.

-- Angela Guisfredi VanWagner, basketball player, Hubbell.

-- Charles Lucchesi, football player, Hancock.

-- Mike Ludlum, sports broadcaster, Marquette.

-- Kevin Luke, basketball coach, Houghton.

-- Troy Mattson, basketball player/coach, Ishpeming/Marquette.

-- John McCormick, football/track/basketball player, Marquette.

The 55th annual Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held Saturday, May 8, at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris. Details for the banquet will be provided in early 2027.
