Kingsford defeated Norway 6-2 to wrap up its girls tennis regular season at home Monday, posting three wins in singles and three in doubles.
“We had our exchange student, Laura (Pfiefer), who is from Germany play No. 1 singles,” said Kingsford coach Tracy Rutter. “Laura has been playing tennis for 12-plus years and got the job done. She has been a joy to have on the team and played hard for her win today.”
The Flivvers will compete in the MHSAA Upper Peninsula D1 finals today in Negaunee.
“As we look ahead to U.P.’s the girls can definitely place if they are in the right mindset and play how they have been playing,” Rutter said. “Proud of this team and the hard work they put in. Today was a great day to end the regular season, to do it at home for the seniors that played made it even better.”
Norway plays in the D2 U.P. finals Thursday in Ishpeming.
