Forest Park grounds Eagles; Flivvers sweep past Braves

Every hitter recorded a kill for Forest Park as the Lady Trojans posted a 3-0 (25-6, 25-7, 25-11) sweep at home against Stephenson on Thursday.

“I thought the girls played a great match from start to finish,” said Forest Park coach Bobbie Anderson. “They were aggressive, focused, and took advantage of every opportunity that came their way.’

Harper Anderson led the way at the service line with eight aces, followed by Audrey Williams with seven. Josie Anderson led the attack with eight kills, while Tessa Bartoszek tacked on seven..

Forest Park also had the opportunity to honor Vienna Price for reaching 1,000 career assists.

“What an incredible accomplishment and a true reflection of her hard work, dedication, and drive,” coach Anderson said. “Vienna is such a key part of our team's success, and we couldn't be more excited and proud of her.”

Forest Park goes to West Iron on Tuesday.

Kingsford 3,

Gladstone 0

Kingsford came away from a trip to Gladstone with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 sweep.

“We we played extremely disciplined and controlled,” said Flivvers coach Jaclynn Kreider. “Our serve receive was exceptional, allowing us to be in-system and aggressive offensively.”

Kingsford also made adjustments as the Braves put up a good block at the net.

“We had to work on some different shot selections and I was pleased with the way the girls were coachable and trying to put the ball in the right spots based on what Gladstone was giving us,” Kreider said. “We served aggressively and that put them in many out-of-system situations that led to unforced errors.”

Kingsford will be on the road again Thursday at Negaunee.

Playing at home, Munising took control of a tightly contested match in the third and fourth sets against North Dickinson, prevailing 25-27, 25-23, 7-25, 13-25.

“Although we didn’t get the win, we played an excellent defensive match resulting in long volleys and aggressive play,” said Nordics coach Taylor Johnson. “Libero Dalaney Steinbrecher had a career night, earning 51 digs and breaking Ashton Hord’s school record from 2021. In the end Munising was a little more aggressive with their hits, which is what ultimately got us.”

Khloe Roberts led the Nordics with 12 kills and Aunika Lindholm totaled 33 assists.

“I thought it was a great challenge for us and we were able to grow a lot from this match,” Johnson said.

The Nordics are at Stephenson on Tuesday.
