STEPHENSON -- The Norway Knights overcame a slow start and a series of challenges to earn a hard-fought five-set victory over Stephenson in volleyball on Thursday.
Norway struggled to capitalize on every opportunity early, dropping the opening set 25-20. The Knights responded taking control in the second and third sets with convincing 25-12 and 25-18 victories.
Stephenson refused to go quietly, edging Norway 26-24 in the fourth set to force a deciding fifth set.
The Knights regrouped in the final set, claiming the match with a 15-10 win.
"They stayed composed, battled through the challenges, and found a way to secure the win," Knights coach Meghan Rossato said. "Their perseverance and teamwork helped them finish strong."
"Hats off to Stephenson for playing a competitive game," Rossato added.
The Knights will compete today in the Forest Park Invitational, then travel Tuesday to Superior Central.
