Varsity squads to play under Friday night lights

Kingsford varsity football will be on the road tonight for a West-PAC Copper game at Gladstone while Iron Mountain will host Bark River-Harris in a key West-PAC Iron contest.
The Flivvers (2-0, 1-0) are coming off convincing home wins over Escanaba and Houghton. Gladstone (1-1, 0-1) opened with a win against Gwinn, but was dominated by Negaunee in its conference opener.
Iron Mountain (1-1, 1-0) took North Muskegon to the wire in a 19-14 loss at Petoskey last week. The Mountaineers opened their season with a 35-0 win over Hancock, who blanked West Iron last week.
Bark River-Harris (2-0, 1-0) has racked up wins of 40-18 over Westwood and 54-6 over Gwinn. Kickoff at Mountaineer Stadium is at 6 p.m.
In the other area 11-player game tonight, West Iron (0-2) travels to Gwinn (0-2, 0-1) for a West-PAC Iron game.
On tonight’s eight-player slate, Forest Park (2-0) travels to Bessemer to face Gogebic (0-2) in the Great Lakes Eight-West. Vic Giuliani threw for 270 yards and two TDs in the Trojans’ 41-14 win over Munising last week. Dax Huuki rushed for 123 yards and three scores and Noah Starr caught nine passes for 158 yards and a TD.
Norway (2-0) has scored 50 points in each of its Great Lakes Eight-West victories. The Knights go to Ironwood (1-1, 0-1) tonight for a conference game.
North Dickinson (1-0, 1-1) will travel to Rapid River (1-1, 0-0) for a Great Lakes Eight-East contest. North Central (1-1, 1-1) hosts Ontonagon (0-2, 0-1) in the Great Lakes Eight-West.
On the Wisconsin side, Niagara (1-3) is at Marion/Tigerton (2-3) tonight, as Gillett has forfeited. Goodman-Pembine (0-3) plays at Florence (1-3).
