By Daily News staff 2 min read

Division 2 Kingsford prevailed at the Clash of the Divisions quadrangular volleyball meet Saturday in Crystal Falls, defeating Division 1 Marquette 2-0, Division 3 Calumet 2-1 and Division 4 Forest Park 2-1.

Forest Park, the hosts, defeated Calumet 2-0 and Marquette 2-0. In the showdown against Kingsford, the Flivvers won 25-19, 18-25, 26-24.

“Overall, I'm extremely happy with how our girls played,” said Forest Park coach Bobbie Anderson. “They fought hard all day, adapted to each team we faced, and played aggressively. We did a great job covering the court and digging some really tough swings.”

The loss to Kingsford was frustrating, Anderson said, especially after giving the visitors a six-point run in the third set.

“These are the moments we hope will make us stronger as we move forward,” said said. “It's always rewarding to see our small D4 school compete with the larger programs.”

Forest Park standouts included Lily Curnow, who anchored the back row with 45 digs. Josie Anderson paced the Lady Trojans with 38 kills.

“Vienna Price and Audrey Williams did a great job leading our team, distributing the ball, and setting up our attackers for success,” coach Anderson said.

Forest Park defeated Marquette, 25-18, 25-21, and Calumet, 25-20, 25-17. They’ll host West Iron on Tuesday and go to North Dickinson on Thursday.

Kingsford got past Calumet 18-25, 25-16, 25-19 and defeated Marquette 25-22, 25-15.

Calumet defeated Marquette 25-16, 24-26, 25-9.

Kingsford hosts Escanaba on Tuesday and travels to Marquette on Thursday.
