Forest Park won the Escanaba Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday for the third year in a row, defeating Gwinn in the final, 25-15, 25-16.

“It was a long, demanding day, but our girls played with heart, confidence and determination from start to finish,” said Lady Trojans coach Bobbie Anderson. “They covered the floor extremely well and did a great job breaking down each team's defense and finding ways to score.”

Forest Park opened pool play in the 10-team tournament with wins over Gwinn, Manistique, Gladstone and Westwood, earning the No. 1 seed heading into bracket play.

In the semifinals, the Trojans defeated Norway 25-18, 25-20.

“Everyone contributed to our success, and that's what makes this group so special,” Anderson said. “I'm incredibly proud of the girls for digging deep, staying focused and finishing our 10.5-hour day strong. Three years in a row is a great accomplishment.”
