North Dickinson and North Central entered halftime tied 28-28 Friday at James D. Priestap Memorial Field, but injuries limited the Nordics to six points in the second half as the Jets went on to win 42-34.
“We played well but lost (receiver) Trenton Kramer to an ankle injury midway through the second quarter and then (quarterback) Luke Grunlund at the half,” said North Dickinson coach Mike Christian.
“We were in a tough situation but I am so proud of my guys for not giving up,” Christian said. “They played the best half of defense that we have all season and Jason Graham took the snaps at QB and kept us in the game. He is a tremendous player and leader,” he said.
Graham rushed for 247 yards on 26 carries. He also had four catches for 115 yards and was 6 of 12 passing for 48 yards.
Grunlund completed 7 of 10 in the first half with two TDs.
Graham led the North Dickinson defense with 17 tackles. Mason Florenski added 12 tackles and two sacks.
The Nordics (4-4) were scheduled to play Mid Peninsula in their regular season finale, but the Wolverines have ended their season.
North Central (6-2, 5-2) will host Forest Park (6-2, 5-2) in a Great Lakes Eight Conference-West game on Friday.
