Nordics, Trojans earn grid victories

ND\'s Graham scores 46 points

North Dickinson piled up 551 yards of offense to capture the Great Lakes Eight-East title with a 74-56 win at Stephenson on Friday as senior Jason Graham scored seven touchdowns.

The Nordics finished 3-0 in the conference and improved to 4-2 overall. Stephenson fell to 1-1 in the conference and 2-4 overall.

North Dickinson will host Laona-Wabeno in a non-conference game Thursday at at James D. Priestap Memorial Field. They’ll then host North Central on Oct. 16 and Mid Peninsula on Oct. 23 .

Graham led the ground attack against Stephenson, scoring six rushing touchdowns. He totaled 227 yards on 25 carries. He also found the end zone on a 60-yard kick return.

Luke Grunlund completed 15 of 20 through the air, including scoring passes of 38 yards and 48 yards to Trenton Kramer. Grunlund totaled 213 yards passing, with 166 credited to Kramer on 10 catches.

The Nordics led 36-18 at halftime.

The Eagles came within 68-56 with about six minutes remaining before Graham finished the scoring with a kickoff return that built an 18-point cushion.

Graham, Kramer and Toby Fleming were the defensive leaders. Fleming recorded a pair of sacks.

The Nordics had four successful two-point conversions, all of them passes by Grunlund -- two to Graham and one each to Kramer and Xavier Remer.

Forest Park 34,

Forest Park rallied in the fourth quarter for a 34-26 win over Norway in a Great Lakes Eight-West thriller Friday at Dick Mettlach Field in Crystal Falls.

Norway led 26-20 entering the final frame but the Trojans scored 14 unanswered points.

Forest Park’s Vic Giuliani tossed three touchdown passes, completing 12 of 17 for 190 yards. His 20-yard toss to Jon Giuliani knotted the score in the fourth quarter. A conversion and Devin Bennett’s 5-yard TD run completed the scoring.

Bennett finished with 150 yards rushing on 20 carries. Vic Giuliani rushed 14 times for 73 yards, including a four-yard score. Dax Huuki added 43 yards on 11 touches.

Jon Giuliani and Noah Starr had five catches each -- Giuliani totaling 86 yards and Starr, 52. Hayden Smith had a 45-yard catch.

Norway’s Kaleb LaPine, carried 24 times for 133 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 20-yard scoring pass to Hunter Langin in the third quarter to put the Knights ahead.

Vic Giuliani collected an interception for the Trojans and Jon Giuliani was credited with a safety in the second quarter.

Also pacing the Forest Park defense were Eli Brzoznowski, Nick Stachowicz and Isaac Williams.

The Trojans had 461 yards of offense and the Knights totaled 253. The halftime score was 14-14 and each team lost a fumble.

Forest Park improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Norway stands at 4-2, both in the conference and overall.

The Knights will travel to North Central (4-2) for a conference game Friday.

Forest Park gets a crack at conference leader Lake Linden-Hubbell (5-0, 6-0) on the road Saturday.
