Tech travels to Saginaw after close loss to Ferris

By Daily News staff 1 min read

No. 15 Michigan Tech travels downstate to face Saginaw Valley State for the final road game of the regular football season Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Eastern time at Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium. Tech is 6-2, and SVSU is 4-4.

The Huskies fought hard, but ultimately fell, 27-17, at No. 1 Ferris State last week. Tech cut it to a one-score game late, but weren't able to recover the onside kick.

"We had too many self-inflicted wounds, which you can't make when you're playing the best team in the country," Huskies coach Dan Mettlach said. "Give them credit. They're talented everywhere on the field, but we didn't give up and get down on ourselves. (We) were able to make it a one-score game.”

The seven-point margin was the closest game for the top-ranked Bulldogs this season as they extended their winning streak to 38 straight.

Kingsford’s Nic Nora, returning from an injury, had three catches for 34 yards for Tech. Alex Bueno completed 12 for 20 passes for 106 yards.
