Brothers are under center at KHS

By Daily News staff 2 min read

Countless hours throwing footballs in the backyard, competing against each other, and studying film has led to a special achievement for brothers Blake and Drew Tomasoski,

During the 2026 football season, the siblings quarterbacked the Kingsford varsity and junior varsity teams, respectively, to conference championships and 9-0 records.

"Winning is great," said senior Blake Tomasoski. "But doing this with my brother and seeing both teams succeed has made this season even more memorable. It's been fun watching him grow as a quarterback and seeing the confidence he has gained,” he added.

"There is definitely some healthy competition between us, but he's always helping me get better,” said sophomore Drew Tomasoski.

The Flivvers varsity, now 10-0 after a 35-24 MHSAA district semifinal win over Howard City Tri County, will look to extend their season Saturday. They’ll host Negaunee (6-4) for the Division 5 District 33 championship at noon Saturday at Flivver Field.

In the final Associated Press poll of the season, Kingsford was ranked fourth in Division 5.

A win Saturday would find the Flivvers facing either Remus Chippewa Hills (8-2) or Ogema Heights (8-2) for the regional crown.

In its playoff opener, Remus Chippewa Hills defeated Muskegon Orchard View 42-21 to claim its first playoff victory since 2016. Ogema Heights advanced with a 36-7 win over Reed City.
