Long Lake club hosts picnic, competitive trap shoot
LONG LAKE, Wis. — The Big 4-Plus Sportsmen’s Club hosted its annual membership picnic under beautiful skies at the clubhouse in Long Lake with about 80 people attending.
Numerous prizes donated by area businesses and national manufacturers were awarded in drawings throughout the day.
The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 48 entries this year and paid out five classes, with each class winning $67. Shooters were allowed two entries.
The winners, all from Wisconsin, and their scores were: Ed Borske, Alvin, 50; Buddy Schaut , Mountain, 48; Mark McHugh, Newald, 46; Colt Tittl, Long Lake, 45; and Harry Wellhouse, Two Rivers, 41. A consolation shoot was offered as well, with Penny Traxler of Oshkosh winning $48.
Lewis class shooters also could play options that paid $40 each. Dick Helbach of Waupaca won 25 straight on Trap 1 and Borske won 25 straight on Trap 2. Borske also won High Gun and Long Run. Numerous steak, bacon and chicken competitions were done, resulting in spirited shoot offs.
“A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and help to sell raffle tickets,” said JoAnne Smith, club treasurer.
