Darwin Dixon, 71, of Felch Township downed a 525-pound 6-by-5 point bull elk near Gaylord in December. Dixon had entered the permit drawing at least 26 times before being selected last summer, gaining a cow or bull tag for the Dec. 15-23 hunt. He was successful the second day, guided by Kevin Johnson of the “Big Boys TV” show. The episode will air later this year on Sportsman Channel. Dixon’s elk had a busted eye guard on the left side and was estimated at 6 1/2 years old.
