Hearing planned on hunting bills

LANSING — State Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, invites Upper Peninsula residents to participate in an upcoming hearing of the Senate Natural Resources Committee via remote teleconference on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time.

The committee will discuss Senate Bills 366 and 367, which would provide a 50 percent discount on certain hunting and fishing licenses for qualified nonresidents, including those who own land in Michigan, previously lived in the state, previously had a Michigan resident hunting license or completed hunter safety training in Michigan.

The panel will also discuss SB 35, which would establish criteria and requirements for the taking of deer during the state’s youth hunt weekend.

The remote teleconference location is Michigan Works!, 2950 College Ave., Escanaba

For more information, residents should call McBroom’s office at 517-373-7840 or email SenEMcBroom@senate.michigan.gov.
