Musky club to host annual Expo in IM

IRON MOUNTAIN – Boundary Waters Musky Club will have its annual Expo from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Antoine Banquet Room at Recreation Lanes.

The event will feature prize drawings, tackle sales and swaps, and presentations by guest speakers. The public is welcome to attend.

New this year is a food drive for local pantries.

The speaker lineup includes —

— Noon: Jim Pryal, guide, “Flyfishing for Muskies”;

–1 p.m.: Michigan and Wisconsin fisheries biologists;

— 2 p.m.: Avery Smith, Cabelas’s pro staff, “Green Bay Muskies”;

— 3 p.m.: Steve Heiting, featured speaker, “Game Plan for Pressured Muskies.”

One of the world’s most accomplished speakers on the topic of musky fishing, Heiting is the managing editor of Musky Hunter magazine and a frequent guest on “The Musky Hunter” television show. He has written, edited or contributed to more than 20 books about musky fishing.

Heiting also is co-owner of the University of Esox Musky Schools. He is on the pro teams of Ranger, Mercury, St. Croix, Mepps, Shoeder’s Marina, Minn Kota, Humminbird and Stealth Tackle.

An annual membership to the Boundary Waters Musky Club is $10 for an individual or $15 for a family.

Dinner will be provided for members at about 5 p.m. Saturday. A cash bar will be open throughout the day.
