MARQUETTE – The American Bird Conservancy will assist a workshop this spring to provide private forest landowners with information to start improving wildlife habitat on their property.

The program will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Eastern time June 9 at the Peter White Public Library Community Room, 217 N. Front St. in Marquette.

“You will learn how improving forest habitat can benefit birds while meeting many of your property goals, including improving wildlife habitat for game species,” said Matt Watkeys, forestry assistance program forester for the Alger and Marquette County Conservation Districts. “You will also learn how to take actionable steps to creating a Forest Management Plan for your property and create a roadmap for the future of your property.”

The program is free. In addition to Watkeys, speakers will include Michael Paling, American Bird Conservancy private lands forester.
