Crystal Falls club offers skis, snowshoes for winter exercise

CRYSTAL FALLS –Although Iron Endurance will not be able to have its regular afterschool ski and snowshoe clubs and events this winter, it plans to make equipment rentals available for people of all ages.

“We have 20 sets of youth skis, poles and boots that would fit preschool through middle school-aged kids,” said Chandra Ziegler, a Forest Park School District teacher and Iron Endurance executive director. “A few of those might even fit high school students or adults up to size 7.”

The group also has 20 sets of snowshoes that will work with most adult boots.

For a deposit of $20, participants can enjoy silent sports all winter long. When the equipment is returned in the same condition, the $20 will be returned.

Equipment rental and distribution will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Forest Park bus garage in Crystal Falls. A second distribution will be done from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

No appointment is needed. Participants are asked to wait outside the bus garage, wear masks and practice social distancing.

For more information, call Ziegler at 906-284-0633.

“With the right clothes — lots of layers and warm socks — the right attitude, and some good equipment, winter is one of the best seasons to get outside and explore,” Ziegler said.

Equipment can be returned from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 19.

Starting at $3.50/week.
