Northern Saddle Club plans trail maintenance day

FLORENCE, Wis. — Northern Saddle Club invites club members and public volunteers to its spring campground cleanup and trail maintenance event at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Hall’s Creek Equestrian Trail Head.

Everyone is to meet back at the trailhead at 1 p.m. for a potluck lunch. The club will supply meat and asks others to bring a dish to pass.

Suggested items to bring include a chair for lunch and refreshments, side-by-side, work gloves, chain saw, brush cutters, loppers, rake, hammer, shovels, wheel barrel, etc.

Participants are reminded that they are volunteering at their own risk.

To confirm attendance, contact Heidi at 906-396-7457, go to the club’s Facebook page or email northernsaddleclub@yahoo.com.

Northern Saddle Club, along with the Florence County Forestry and Parks Department, has established two equestrian trailheads — Hall’s Creek and Bush Lake Flats — at Highway C in Homestead, Wis. There are more than 30 miles of trails to ride.

The club’s next meeting is at 6 p.m. May 6 at a place to be determined. A poker run fundraiser is being planned.

Remember, slow down or stop when encountering horses on trails for your safety and theirs.

Starting at $3.50/week.
