Musky club to host Expo in IM

Steve Heiting, one of musky fishing’s best-known anglers and a member of the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, will speak at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, during the Boundary Waters Musky Club’s annual Expo. The event, which is open to the public, is from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Antoine Banquet Room at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Boundary Waters Musky Club will have its annual Expo from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Antoine Banquet Room at Recreation Lanes.

The event will feature prize raffles, tackle sales and swaps, and presentations by guest speakers. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Featured speaker is northern Wisconsin fishing guide Steve Heiting, who will offer a presentation at 3 p.m.

Heiting was inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in 2022.He has written, edited or contributed to more than 27 books about musky fishing and produces “Steve Heiting’s Musky Tips” on YouTube and “Steve Heiting’s Northwoods Musky Report” on WJJQ Radio.

He is on the pro teams of Vexus Boats, Mercury, St. Croix, Mepps, Minn Kota, Humminbird, M-W Marine and Stealth Tackle.

Other speakers are Jennifer Johnson, Michigan Department of Natural Resources fisheries biologist, at 1 p.m.; and Greg Matzke, Wisconsin DNR fisheries biologist, at 2 p.m.

An annual membership to the Boundary Waters Musky Club is $10 for an individual or $15 for a family. Dinner will be provided for members around 5 p.m. A cash bar will be open throughout the day.

“Thanks to this event and other fundraising we’ve done over the years, Boundary Waters has been able to provide funds to stock thousands of fish across the region and we’re proud to say our members have spent countless volunteer hours with the Michigan and Wisconsin DNRs and other organizations on fisheries management support and youth programs,” said Benjamin Wood, club vice president.
