Participants were broken into three age categories and were welcome to participate in numerous events.

Two members represented Florence County 4-H in the intermediate category, ages 12-14. Alexander Erickson and Vandan Pezzullo entered in three disciplines and placed first and second in all three.

Erickson earned first-place medals in both the .22 long rifle sporter and .22 long rifle hunter disciplines, while Pezzullo placed second in both.

Pezzullo earned top honors in the .22 long rifle silhouette discipline, edging his teammate Erickson by a tiebreaker.

Jonas Eloranta represented Florence County 4-H in the junior division, ages 9-11. He placed second in air rifle after a first place-tiebreaker and also placed second in air rifle silhouette.

Representing Marinette County 4-H in the junior division was Gavin Ollila. He placed fourth in air rifle and air rifle silhouette.

The Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club youth shooting program — “Big Shooters” — meets on the first Sunday of each month at the clubhouse in Channing. Big Shooters teaches firearms safety and builds into a competitive shooting program.

Participants enjoy archery, BB gun, air rifle, .22 rifle, trap shotgun, muzzleloading, and soon to be adding pistol. The club regularly competes in American Legion postal shoots, Civilian Marksmanship Program, 4-H Wisconsin, and numerous other competitions.
