The event included 24 veterans who were paired with host camps throughout Menominee County.

It was supported by dozens of volunteers, generous donations and host camp owners who provided an all-inclusive three-day hunt for veterans. Small groups were paired with area camps for a relaxing weekend with other veterans to enjoy the forests and fields of Menominee County.

Twenty whitetail deer were harvested and processed at no expense to the veterans. Each camp provided meals, blinds and guides for all hunters.

“The strong community support from our host camps, sponsors and volunteers make this event a safe and successful hunt,” President Dave Anderson said.

“But what’s most important is that we let our veterans know they are appreciated. We provide licenses, crossbows and safety training, meals, guides, blinds, processing — everything they need to be successful hunters — but most importantly we provide a setting for vets to unwind and be supported by fellow vets,” Anderson said.
