CHANNING — Andrew Hartwig earned first place in two categories in the adult division while Jason Harwath won two categories in the youth division at the 50th annual Tip-Up Town of the U.P. hosted by Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club.

“Anglers from around the area were treated to 40-plus-degree temperatures and clear skies,” said club representative Anthony Erickson. “All attendees exercised caution while on the ice after unseasonably warm temperatures for the days up to the event made ice thicknesses uncertain.”

There were five categories in each division for the Feb. 3 event at Sawyer and Edey lakes. The top three adult anglers were awarded cash prizes in each category. The top five youth in each category were awarded a “prize bucket” with numerous hunting and fishing prizes inside. The buckets and prizes were donated by sponsors.

Top finishers in the adult category were:

— Perch, 1st, Caroline Adams, 9 3/4 inches; 2nd, Andrew Hartwig, 9 3/8 inches; 3rd, Kenny Pekarek, 8 7/8 inches.
