Anglers this week were able to fish the lower Menominee River from boats, landing brown trout while trolling with stickbaits, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said.

To the west, the Oconto Harbor parking lot was full as anglers targeted walleye at depths varying from 5 feet to as deep as 30 feet.

Burn permit restrictions were in effect Friday across most of the western Upper Peninsula while the Wisconsin DNR rated the fire danger locally as moderate.

A wildfire on Friday burned about an acre in northern Marinette County. Further details from the DNR were unavailable.
