Trumpeter swans

A pair of trumpeter swans took advantage of the open water on Six Mile Lake during the unusually warm weather earlier this week; by Thursday, the single-digit temperatures had the area again covered with ice. It’s likely to reopen again as temperatures trend back up next week, which could bring some of the earliest migrants — some of the ducks, Canada geese — back to the region as well.
