Wisconsin hosts Run for the Trees

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources encourages the public to sign up for the upcoming Run for the Trees: Happy Little 5K. The race, inspired by artist Bob Ross, is a virtual event with proceeds benefiting tree health and protection across the state.

All skill levels and abilities are encouraged to participate in the Happy Little 5K. Participants can walk, run, skate, scooter, cycle or use a mobility device to complete the 3.1-mile race and can pick their start and finish locations.

Registrants can sign up and select Wisconsin as the state they wish to represent. A portion of the registration fee will go toward tree planting and forest health efforts to combat threats from invasive species in state parks, forests, trails and recreation areas.

The registration fee is $36 and includes a keepsake Happy Little T-shirt, a commemorative bib number, finisher’s medal, Run for the Trees sticker and shipping fees.

To be guaranteed delivery of a packet, please register by April 1. Bulk registration is available for groups of 10 or more.

Racers can complete their 5K anywhere outdoors between Earth Day, April 22, and Arbor Day, April 26. Go to https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/outwigo for more information.
