Researchers in the Upper Peninsula this winter met their primary goal of capturing and collaring 20 moose, including five calves, five bulls and 10 cows. The tracking collars will help them learn more about the Upper Peninsula core moose population, which has been declining. The “Factors Limiting Moose Population Growth study in the Upper Peninsula” is a collaborative effort between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and Northern Michigan University.
