Little League fundraiser July 16 in Quinnesec

Thomas Entertainment in Quinnesec will host a fundraising event from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, for the Kingsford Majors (ages 10-12) Little League baseball team headed to the state tournament beginning July 24 in Tecumseh. The District 10 championship team will receive a police escort out of town from Kingsford High School beginning at 10 a.m. July 22. Thomas Entertainment is part of Tri-City Cinemas 8 in Quinnesec. A story in Thursday's print edition of The Daily News reported a wrong date for the fundraiser.

Racing action returns at Norway Speedway

After a rainout on July 3, grandstands open at 5 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:40 p.m. and racing begins at 7 tonight at Norway Speedway. In addition to a full schedule of racing — including sport trucks — a Power Wheels Showdown will feature drivers ages 10 and under. There will be fireworks after the races.
