Norway High School students Mary Slagle, left, and Emma Anderson are recipients of the Michigan Tech University Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit. 

NORWAY — Norway High School senior Mary Slagle and junior Emma Anderson have been nominated by the high school math and science department as recipients of the Michigan Tech University Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit. 

The purpose of this Certificate of Merit Program is to give women who have exhibited outstanding performance in math and science the well-deserved recognition.  This is a distinguished award acknowledged by many colleges and universities as a significant achievement. 

Both Slagle and Anderson exemplify the qualities of academic excellence and positive participation and volunteerism.

 Mary is the daughter of Tami and Tom Slagle of Norway. Emma is the daughter of Rodney and Janet Anderson of Norway.
