Some MDOT limits eased

CRYSTAL FALLS — Effective 7 a.m. today, the Michigan Department of Transportation has lifted seasonal weight restrictions on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including US-2/US-141 at the Menominee River bridge west of Iron Mountain, then east on US-2 to St. Ignace, then north on I-75 to the International Bridge.

Restrictions will also be lifted east of I-75 in the Upper Peninsula, with the exception of M-185 on Mackinac Island.

Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north and west of US-2 and I-75 and on M-185 on Mackinac Island.

On March 16, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-12, temporarily lifting seasonal weight and other delivery-related restrictions for vehicles on state and local roads carrying essential supplies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This update does not alter or affect the direction given in the governor’s order. For more information, call 1-800-787-8960, or go to www.Michigan.gov/Truckers.
