Unhappy about Woodland road to Pyle Drive

Speak Out

Residents of North Pyle Drive in Kingsford would like to express our disappointment with the Breitung Township School administration and board who are building a road from Woodland Elementary through a North Pyle Drive lot in our neighborhood into our street.

We expressed our concerns and questions about safety, traffic, noise, property value impact, poor communication and procedures at the board meeting June 29. They held a brief discussion about our concerns, but they chose to proceed with this intrusive project. Interestingly, after opting to go ahead with the plan that evening, they still had a lengthy discussion on how they might use the road and didn’t have a definite plan for usage.

Nevertheless, they decided it would start the next day. After some negative publicity, they let the project sit for a while, and there was hope that they had reconsidered. But no, just waiting till the smoke cleared.

Unfortunately, the project is underway. We are still opposed to this project, and frown upon the school’s choice. Kingsford and Breitung township taxpayers, look at the bottom line on your tax bill. To think we approved the “sinking fund,” an extra tax, so they can utilize it (or any other school funds) for such projects.
