Iron Mountain takes golf dual
IM’s Verrette, Wykons’ Thomson medalists

IRON MOUNTAIN — West Iron’s Nathan Thomson and Iron Mountain’s Lily Verrette were medalists in a golf dual meet at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain on Monday.
On the girls side, Iron Mountain defeated the Wykons, 240-274. Verrette carded a 50, followed by Natalia Brown with a 58, Bella Rosenthal, 63, and Lulu McCash, 69.
Madison Berutti led the Wykons with a 57, which was also overall runner-up in the meet. Ava Richardson carded a 63, followed by Kya Dallavalle, 70, and Harlie Melstrom, 84.
On the boys side, Thomson shot a 40 for West Iron, followed by Brennen Horton and Dale Kempanin with a 49 and Justin Lambert with a 79, for a team total 217.
Iron Mountain’s first four came in with a 202 to defeat West Iron. Ricky Brown’s 42 was low for the Mountaineers and was overall runner-up. Gabe Celello and Zac Erickson each shot a 52 for IM, while Sam Yake carded a 56.

Sophomore Joey Colavecchi shot a 59 to round out the Mountaineers lineup on the afternoon.
Both teams will compete in the Negaunee Invitational today at Wawonowin Country Club in Ishpeming.
