WATERSMEET — Residents of the Upper Peninsula should prepare themselves for a new flavor in town. Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino has announced the opening of a new food court inside the casino.

The new food court menu features fresh farm-to-table ingredients, along with specially prepared hand-tossed take-out and dine-in pizza, freshly made sandwiches, signature salads, homemade hand-cut french fries, choice Angus burgers, special-order honey smoked ham and turkey.

The new food court will also serve the Upper Peninsula with hot and cold drink specialties, including a variety of ice cream and freshly ground espresso and blended coffee drinks. Also available in the coffee section are house made scones, muffins, Danish pastries, cookies and other specialty baked goods.

“We are bringing food and drink to another level, not just in the food court, but in the upcoming fine dining choices we are working on now. This is the kind of food that would be right at home in the best restaurants in Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York, but it’s right here in at LVD,” said Jeff Astemborski, food and beverage director and executive chef at Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino.

“The opening of the food court, located inside the Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino, represents a major first step in our renovation and rejuvenation of the Resort,” said Gary Murrey, general manager of Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino.

The Lac Vieux Resort and Casino is undergoing a major renovation and rebranding, scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2017. The renovation includes the addition of not only the food court, but also a supper club, sports bar, banquet and convention center, as well as a major refresh of the Lac Vieux Desert Buffet.

The casino will also be receiving a whole new look, incorporating a more contemporary and modern take on the Northwoods lifestyle.
