Bay College to offer monthly nurse assistant training

ESCANABA — Bay College in January will begin providing nurse assistant training on a monthly basis.

The Certified Nurse Assistant training aims to provide skills and processes necessary to become a certified nurse assistant. After completing the training, students will qualify to take the state competency evaluation test for nursing assistants.

Training consists of classroom lecture, plus laboratory and clinical instruction at the CNA training facility at the M-TEC building at Bay College in Escanaba and at a local care facility. The training costs $800, which is eligible for full reimbursement, plus the cost of scrubs and shoes. Bay College also now will provide the stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs for training. Requirements for the program include satisfactorily completing a medical examination before entering clinics and passing a criminal background check.

For more information on becoming a CNA, contact Renee Lundberg at 906-217-4224. To view the upcoming 2018 CNA schedule, go to www.baycollege.edu/mtec.
