Jayme Petschar, right, a staff member at BOSS in Iron Mountain, donated 20 pounds of can tabs to the Dickinson County Hospital Foundation in support of its Operation Heartbeat program. The program supports the purchase and maintenance of AEDs and defibrillators for local law enforcement and first responder vehicles. Donated tabs are recycled locally at Schneider’s Iron and Metal and the funds are used to purchase new units, AED pads, replacement batteries or needed parts. Individuals, organizations, groups and businesses, like BOSS, are encouraged to collect and save tabs for donation to help support this lifesaving program.
