Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Market open Saturday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The 2018 Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Summer Market will be 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the parking area across from the Dickinson County Library in downtown Iron Mountain.

“We are excited to have a new produce vendor. Isaac Begres is our newest, youngest vendor who is making hard work in his garden pay off,” said Nancy Schaub, who manages the market together with the Farmers Market Executive Committee under the auspices of the Downtown Development Authority.

The market offers fresh-cut greens, garlic, beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, fresh herbs, seasonal berries, eggs, meat, jam, honey and maple syrup. Lots of locally produced crafts, art and baked goods will be on sale as well.

A new web page has been set up with vendors information at ironmountainfarmersmarket.com.

The public is asked to stay out of the market area before 8 a.m. to allow vendors a chance to safely set up their products.

Space still might be available for those wishing to sell locally grown produce and plants. Artist and crafters producing unique products from natural or organic materials are encouraged to join other vendors at the market. The market also is open to locally produced food products.

Note that vendors no longer will be accepted on site but rather will be required to submit a completed application for the market committee to review. There is a cost to join the market.

Interested farmer or artist vendors wanting to participate in the market or citizens seeking more information can contact the manager at 906-774-9223 or e-mail hsrhnschaub@att.net.

The market also is looking for musicians who want to perform during sales hours. Contact the market manager if interested.
