Poor wording for Student of the Week

Did you proofread the copy you received from an Iron Mountain High School teacher for the Student of the Week published Dec. 28?

Shame on you, and the teacher who wrote the piece. You both need a lesson in English. This young lady “gets along well with her peers and treats them as equals.” Really? By very definition, peers are equals– they are synonyms.

Does the teacher who wrote the copy not know that, or does she feel this young lady is above her peers? If so, that should not have been published in the paper for all her peers to see.
