Northwoods Geology Club meets Oct. 23

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the lower level of the Florence Natural Resource Center in Florence. This will be the final meeting of the year. The club will resume meetings in April. No speaker is lined up for the meeting at this time. If a presentation is scheduled, it will be announced on the club’s Facebook page. All ages are welcome to attend. Door prizes are drawn for at the end of the meeting. Thank to all who participated in the monthly meetings and the club’s field trips.

Hermansville Post 340 to host Veterans Appreciation dinner

HERMANSVILLE — The Veterans Appreciation Dinner is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Post 340 Legion Hall in Hermansville. The meal will feature a spaghetti dinner. There will also be a 50-50 raffle drawing. Cost is $10 per plate, but all veterans will be served for free. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Foxy Loxy Red Hatters meet Oct. 16

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Foxy Loxy Red Hat ladies will gather for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Solberg’s Greenleaf Sports Bar and Grill in Iron Mountain.

Tootsie Roll Drive this weekend in IR

IRON RIVER — The Iron River Knights of Columbus Council 2300 will have its 49th-annual Tootsie Roll Drive on Columbus Day weekend Oct. 11-13. The public can watch for Knights in their yellow aprons, who will be stationed at several key businesses and post offices passing out Tootsie Rolls, seeking a donation in return. As in past years, the proceeds will be donated to the West Iron County special education teachers and staff for much-needed supplies and assistance. Stamp club meeting

IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. The church is between Domino’s Pizza and Slumberland Furniture. A short business meeting and educational program will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. Members are encouraged to bring up to five lots for the auction, and the club will also auction lots of recently acquired stamps. Post 50 hosts cribbage tournament on Oct. 19

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host a monthly cribbage tournament starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Cost is $20 per team, 25 cents for a 19 hand. The post plans to have cribbage tournaments every third Saturday of each month. The post is at 916 River Ave. in Iron Mountain.
