Smear tournament set for Saturday in Niagara

NIAGARA, Wis. — The Knights of Columbus Fr. Damian Council 2847 of Niagara will host its annual smear tournament Saturday at St. Anthony’s Church Hall in Niagara. Stamp club plans meeting Tuesday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. The church is located between Domino’s Pizza and Slumberland Furniture. A short business meeting and educational program, will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. KINGSFORD — On Groundhog Day, Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow and declared an early spring. Although many winter enthusiasts are hoping he’s wrong, many others welcome the idea of spring. Bill Roberts called the Monday meeting to order. Members thumbed through their songbooks as Alyce Derwinski played the piano. IM-K Knights of Columbus Fat Tuesday dinner set

KINGSFORD — The Iron Mountain-Kingsford Knights of Columbus Bishop Baraga Council 1585 will host its annual Fat Tuesday dinner Tuesday at the hall at 520 W. Breitung Ave. Social time will be 5 to 6 p.m., with dinner served from 6 to 7 p.m. The menu will include homemade Italian sausage and meatballs, spaghetti with tomato and garlic butter sauces and paczkis. Cost of the meal is $14 for adults, $7 for children age 5 to 12; younger than age 5 can eat for free. The public is welcome to attend.

NORWAY — The Knights of Columbus Council 9523 has planned its 11th annual Friday Night Fish Fry fundraiser for Feb. 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the church hall. Dine-in or carryout are available. The menu has two options: a choice of baked or batter-fried cod, with either a baked potato or french fries, and coleslaw and roll; and cheese ravioli dinner served with salad and garlic bread.
