NIAGARA, Wis. — When my husband and I were dating back in the early 1970s, we could have a pretty good time on a twenty-dollar bill. We lived 40 miles apart — he in Menasha and I in Ripon — so just the driving back and forth twice in one night took a good bit of gas. But gas back then was about 29 cents per gallon.
