NIAGARA, Wis. — Dorothy Boyd Lyon (nee Dorothy Agnes Pritchard) was born Oct. 3, 1921, in Staceyville, Iowa. The oldest of five girls, she grew up on a small farm in Hillsboro, Iowa, and after graduation was trained as a beautician. When war came to the world, Dorothy enlisted in the US Navy where, while stationed in Boston, she reconnected with fellow Hillsboroan Paul Judson Boyd, who had enlisted in the Marines.
