Five new COVID-19 cases in Dickinson County

Local health officials Wednesday afternoon reported five new COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County for a total of 25 so far.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted the update on its Facebook page but provided no other information on the latest cases.

Elsewhere in the Upper Peninsula, state COVID-19 statistics Wednesday listed five new positives in Marquette County; two each in Menominee, Delta and Gogebic counties; and one each in Alger and Houghton counties. The state also removed one positive from Baraga and Chippewa counties. It did not yet reflect the new Dickinson County cases.

In northern Wisconsin, the state’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday showed five more cases in Marinette County, four more in Iron County — three were reported by the county Tuesday — and one more in Forest County.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ data site Wednesday had Ontonagon County with one confirmed virus case; Keweenaw two confirmed cases; Luce County three confirmed cases; Alger County four confirmed cases and one probable; Baraga County with five confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County with seven confirmed cases; Iron County eight confirmed cases and one death; Mackinac County nine confirmed cases; Gogebic County 17 confirmed cases, one probable and a death; Chippewa County 19 confirmed cases and four probable; Dickinson County 20 confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Houghton County 26 confirmed cases and five probable; Delta County 30 confirmed cases, seven probable and three deaths; Menominee County 48 confirmed cases and three probable; and Marquette County 94 confirmed cases, four probable and 11 deaths. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS also earlier separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Using strictly the state figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 295 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 18 deaths.

The MDHHS reported 891 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Wednesday for a total of 71,197 to date. The state had four new deaths for 6,085 to date.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Wednesday listed Dickinson County with 25 positives so far, of which two had died, four recovered and 19 are active cases. Of Iron County’s eight cases, one had died, two recovered and five are still active, according to the DIDHD.

Dickinson County Healthcare System as of Tuesday showed five cases from Dickinson County and nine cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 1,725 people for COVID-19, with 14 positive, 1,603 negative and 108 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state DHS COVID-19 data site Wednesday listed Marinette County with 126 cases and three deaths; Forest County with 49 cases and three deaths; Iron County 21 cases and one death; Vilas County 17 cases; and Florence County five cases. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports.

Wisconsin had 821 new cases Wednesday for a total of 38,727 to date, according to the state DHS data site. The state recorded only one new COVID-19 death Wednesday to reach 826.
