Stamp club meets tonight
IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club will be 7 p.m. today in the fellowship room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. A short business meeting and educational program will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. Members are encouraged to bring up to five lots for the auction, and the club will also auction lots of recently acquired stamps. Geology club presentation Wednesday
FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will host a presentation by Esther Stewart on the Midcontinent rift at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Wild Rivers Interpretive Center in Florence. Stewart is a bedrock geologist from the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and a senior geologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her focus is Precambrian Geology, specifically mapping Wisconsin’s oldest rocks. The regular business meeting will follow the presentation. As always, meetings are open to the public with no dues or fees. Door prizes are given at every meeting.

Sign language course to start Tuesday at CF library
CRYSTAL FALLS — A Sign Language Course will be offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday starting tomorrow at the Crystal Falls District Community Library. The course will be taught by Heather Strong and include the basic fundamentals of American Sign Language. Those interested in the class can sign up by calling 906-875-3344 or stopping in the library at 237 Superior Ave. in Crystal Falls.
