St. Urho’s Day Celebration set for March 15

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Finnish American Raja Ryhma group, whose members share an interest in preserving their Finnish heritage and culture, will celebrate the mythical hero St. Urho on Saturday, March 15, at the Recreation Lanes Antoine Room on North U.S. 2 in Iron Mountain. Iron County Genealogical Society to meet

IRON RIVER — The Iron County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the J. Patrick White Conference Room at the West Iron District Library in Iron River. Michelle Blood, a local genealogist, will present a program, “The Hidden Leaves in My Family Tree.” The program will highlight moments on her journey tracing her family tree. Update on new cancer center at GFWC meeting

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain-Kingsford General Federation of Women’s Club will meet at noon Friday at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. The program will be an update on the new cancer treatment center at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson. Joe Rizzo, MMC-D’s director of public relations and business development, will present many details of the current and future plans for the medical complex in Iron Mountain. Fish fry Friday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the hall. The dinners will include a choice of three-piece cod or eight fried shrimp, along with fries, baked beans and cole slaw. Cost is $14 per plate. Dine-in or takeout is available.
