FLORENCE, Wis. — The First Presbyterian Church of Florence celebrated its 138th anniversary during its Nov. 26 Come to Supper dinner.

The congregation was founded 138 years ago during the logging and iron boom in Florence County. First Presbyterian was the first established Christian congregation in the town of Florence at that time.

In 2019, the church building will be renovated to better accommodate the handicapped as well as adding additional office and storage space. The renovation should start in the spring and hopes to be completed by the fall.

The December Come to Supper dinner will be moved to the third Monday, in December because of the Christmas holiday.

A full, hot meal usually is served on the fourth Monday of the month in the church’s fellowship hall unless the day is changed because of a conflict.

The public is welcome to attend the meal at no cost.

The Come to Supper ministry is in its seventh year and has served approximately 4,000 meals over that time.
