Local Churches to Offer Free Oil Changes

IRON MOUNTAIN — The next area Car Care Clinic to help those in the region who need basic vehicle maintenance, especially single parents with limited money or resources, is scheduled for May 18.

The effort is organized and supported by First United Methodist Church, Quinnesec United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, Norway Grace United Methodist Church, Abundant Life, Maranatha Assembly of God, First Covenant of Iron Mountain and others.

The event is expected to provide free oil changes and a general maintenance inspection on more than 50 vehicles, according to organizers.

Appointments are required to have vehicles serviced. a limited number of time slots are available. Those who wish to schedule an appointment should call 906-396-6828. The deadline for registration is Wednesday.

NAPA Auto Parts of Kingsford has agreed to support the event by discounting the cost of the needed automotive supplies.

After registered participants confirm their appointment, oil filters are available at no additional cost for most vehicles at NAPA, along with discounted wiper blades and air filters.

The staff at NAPA Auto Parts can assist individuals in choosing the correct parts for their vehicle.

The group asks that participants bring canned good donations with them the day of the appointment to help stock local food pantries.
